I wrote a book. I didn’t know what it was about. People keep telling me — and they don’t all say the same thing.

Watercolor of a curly brown labradoodle asleep on a wooden dining room table, with a window and a vase of dried flowers in the background.
The dining room table. The dog. The point.

It started as a joke about my dogs. Somewhere around chapter three it stopped being funny and started being true. Or maybe it was always both. I can’t tell anymore.

Some things people said

Quite possibly the best treatise on post-modern applied stoicism — real stoicism, not the Ryan Holiday coopting and hustle-bro bastardization — and the book doesn’t use the word once. Possibly why it succeeds.

— M.N., Martinsburg WV

I realized I’m a Saturday person. I spent my entire working life trying to earn enough money to escape all that was barely tolerable.

I always knew how smart Scott the CEO is. What I learned from Tuesday Person is that he may not necessarily be the smartest one in his household.

— B.K., Honolulu HI, who has known the author for 26 years

Scott learns, from two dogs who never had to earn a thing, that maybe he doesn’t have to either.

— B.P., Denver CO

I wrote this on my lanai, mostly at night, because it wouldn’t leave me alone. The dogs are real. The dining room table is a war zone. Most of the rest is true enough.

If the book finds you, send a note. If it doesn’t, that’s fine too.
